Saturday 23rd June

Campaigners from Berkshire for Europe and Open Britain Reading and Berkshire, joining People’s March for a People’s Vote on Brexit

This Saturday (23rd June), campaigners from Berkshire are joining tens of thousands of others travelling to London to demand a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal at the People’s March for a People’s Vote.

They met at Reading station on the morning of the 23rd, ready to board a train to London to join

tens of thousands of others, representing every corner of the United Kingdom, in marching to demand that the politicians give the people a vote on the terms of any Brexit deal.

The speakers at the People’s March for a People’s Vote will come from all walks of life and represent many different professions. They all feel their voices are not being heard in Westminster when it comes to Brexit, and are demanding a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.

Peter Leisupe, spokesperson for Berkshire for Europe, said:

“We’re attending the People’s March for a People’s Vote because whatever you think of Brexit, it’s clear that the Government are making a mess of the negotiations and that Parliament is too paralysed to act decisively. Our government’s negotiations are designed, not to obtain the best deal for the UK, but to keep the Conservative party together. It’s time to give the decision to the people of this country, through a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”

Caroline Kuipers, spokesperson for Open Britain Reading and Berkshire, said:

“Leaving the EU is going to have a significant impact on communities and families around the UK as well as future generations to come. Whatever you think of Brexit whether it is a good deal, bad deal, or maybe not quite sure – it’s not a done deal. The People’s March for a People’s Vote demonstrates a huge expression of grassroots support across the country to secure a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”

James McGrory, Executive Director of Open Britain which is helping organise the People’s March for a People’s Vote, said:

“Whether you think Brexit is a good deal or a bad deal, it’s not a done deal. That’s why we need to make sure that the Government aren’t allowed to stitch something up behind closed doors without consulting the people of this country. The People’s March for a People’s Vote will be a huge expression of grassroots support for our campaign to secure a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”

Sarah Baumann, Director of the People’s March for a People’s Vote, said:

“It’s fantastic to see so many people from all walks of life travelling from far and wide to attend the People’s March for a People’s Vote. This campaign is all about letting the people, not just politicians, have a say on the Brexit deal. We’re going to make sure the Government in Westminster can’t ignore us any longer.”
